There are songs that are like a good bottle of wine: the inexorable passage of time allows them to achieve their best version. This single is straight out of Los Candelarians' cava.

Rancho Viejo and Valerie were recorded more than two years ago as part of Juan Ortiz's undergraduate project - our "grumpy" engineer - who with patience and brutal honesty helped in the development of our own sound.

Rancho Viejo is a name inherited from the high school radio of Juan Carlos,our guitar and its composer. We imagine it as the soundtrack for a Clint Eastwood Western. And Valerie's song from The Zutons is also a tribute to Amy Winehouse and her tremendous influence and inspiration.

This single is a turning point for Los Candelarians, a tribute to our history; an honest acknowledgment of our influences.
